Applies To:
GroupID 8 - Self-Service
Business Scenario:
We would like to use SSL default port bindings with the Self-Service portal (443) instead of the GroupID default port bindings (4443).
Explanation:
By default, GroupID is configured on a Windows server, with port bindings set to 4443 for https. GroupID Data Service, Self-Service portals, and Password Center portals are also created and configured to work with the same port bindings.
This article explains how port bindings can be changed to the default https port (443) without any disruption in the configured services.
To view defaults, go to:
IIS Manager > Sites > GroupIDSite > Right-click > Edit Bindings > Site Bindings dialog box
As you can see, the port number for http is set to a random port and for https, you will find it as 4443. With this default configuration, the URL of the Self-Service and Password Center portals will be https://hostname:4443/portalname.
You can change the port in IIS.
Next, you may want to get rid of the port number in the URL. For this, do the following after changing the port:
- Reconfigure GroupID
- Update the database records for the old portals
