Business Scenario:
We need to move the GroupID SQL database to another/new server. Is there anything special that needs to be done? And what is the supported version of SQL Server with GroupID?

Supported SQL Versions:
Following are the list of supported SQL Servers versions: Databases can move/upgrade to same or new SQL version. There is no backward compatibility once upgraded to a newer version.

Solution:
There are two methods to move your GroupID Database to a new or another SQL Server.
- Take a full database backup and restore it on a new SQL server. For more information, please read this Microsoft article Create a Full Database Backup (SQL Server).
- Use Import/Export wizard from SSMS (SQL server studio management) to copy your database over to a new SQL server. Using Import/Export in SQL, read Start the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard.
Steps:
Once your database is moved to a new SQL Server, please follow these steps to point your GroupID to a new SQL server instance.
- Run GroupID Configuration Tool from GroupID server.
- On Database Settings, Provide new SQL Server information.
- After providing this information, click Configure.
- Once Configuration is completed, Launch GroupID.
