GroupID 9 and 10 - Automate

Business Scenario:

I have a requirement to change the names of Dynasties in an identity store. For example, my Dynasty names appear to be in the form of “Dynasty Name-Company-Department”, while I want them to appear as “Company-Department-Dynasty Name”.

More Information:

Dynasty naming convention is the format in which Dynasty names are displayed in GroupID. By default, this convention is set to [DynastyName%GroupBy%] for geographical, organizational, and custom Dynasties.

Here, DynastyName is the name given to the Dynasty and %GroupBy% contains the attributes defined in the Dynasty, in order of their selection.

Steps:

To change the naming convention for a Dynasty, follow these steps: 

  1. In GroupID Management Console, select Automate > All Groups > Dynasties.
  2. Right-click the required Dynasty and select Properties. 

  3. On the Dynasty properties dialog box, click the GroupID tab.

  4. In the Advanced section, click Options. 

  5. On the Dynasty Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab.

  6. Use the Display name template and Alias template boxes to modify the naming convention for the Dynasty.
    By default, the Dynasty name template contains the Dynasty name followed by %GroupBy%. %GroupBy% returns the names of the attributes selected on the General tab.

  7. In my case, I would like to have the Dynasty name after %GroupBy% (i.e. company name and department).

  8. Apply the settings and click OK. Update the Dynasty and you will get the following result: 

We changed the default naming convention for a Dynasty to a custom naming convention. Notice the difference in Dynasty names, as shown in the first and last figures.
