Self-Service Functionality Modes - An Introduction

GroupID Self-Service groups operations in five functional modes. This enables you to tailor the user experience by exposing the required functionality only. Mode-specific URLs determine the mode to launch the Self-Service portal in. Modes are:

The Update Wizard mode enables users to update their profiles in the wizard mode.

In the Phonebook mode, users can search the identity store for users and groups. Modifications are not allowed.

Enterprise Mode:

This is the default functionality mode of a portal. It exposes all functionality of the Self-Service portal, such as searching the directory, updating profile information, managing groups and memberships, managing direct reports, and controlling workflow requests.

Groups Mode:

This mode enables users to manage their groups and memberships. Users can also manage the workflow approval requests they receive and the requests that they have sent. They can also customize different display options for the portal, which enables them to fine-tune the portal's appearance according to their preferences.

My Profile Mode:

This functionality mode enables users to update their own profile. The profile information includes name, department, designation, contact information, and more. This mode does not support directory searches.

Update Wizard Mode:

This mode provides the same functionality as the My Profile mode but launches a wizard interface for users to update their profiles rather than My Profile's web interface. This mode does not support directory searches.

Phonebook Mode:

Users can search the directory and view information about users, groups, contacts and folders. This mode is read-only.

Steps to Set the Functionality Mode:

To set the functionality mode for a portal, follow these steps:

  1. In GroupID Management Console, select Self-Service > Portals > [Required portal] > Server.

  2. On the Functionality tab, select the required functionality mode.

  3. On the toolbar, click Save.
